The Indian stock market experienced a massive downturn on Wednesday, dealing a severe blow to investors and wiping out their previous day's gains entirely. The BSE market capitalization plummeted to Rs 470 lakh crore, down from Rs 473 lakh crore recorded on Tuesday, reflecting heavy capital erosion.

Sensex and Nifty Slip Amid Broad-Based Selling

At the closing bell, the 30-share BSE Sensex slumped by 429.11 points or 0.59% to settle at 72,638.70. Simultaneously, the NSE Nifty dropped 173.05 points or 0.76% to finish at 22,603.05. Out of the 30 Sensex constituents, only 4 managed to stay in the green while 26 closed in negative territory, with Titan plunging the most at nearly 4 percent.
