In a bizarre incident in Rajkot, Gujarat, a daylight robbery of 11 lakh rupees turned out to be an elaborate hoax orchestrated by a nephew to avoid repaying a 40 lakh rupee debt to his uncle. Swift police action unraveled the conspiracy, leading to a case being registered against the nephew and two of his accomplices.
The Genesis of the Plot
According to the police, Hardevsinh Sajubha Jhala had given 40 lakh rupees to his nephew, Dhirendersinh Vaghela, for a vehicle trading business, money which Hardevsinh had arranged by pawning gold ornaments. With Hardevsinh repeatedly demanding the money back, Dhirendersinh devised a cunning plan a week prior to escape the liability of returning the heavy debt.
Dhirendersinh invited his uncle under the pretext of returning 11 lakhs. Later, carrying a red bag, he sat behind his uncle on his motorcycle as they headed towards a relative's house.
How the False Robbery Unfolded
En route, near the Nanamma Road to Sagar Chowk stretch, two individuals on an unnumbered motorcycle allegedly kicked their bike. Dhirendersinh urged his uncle to chase them, and later dialed the police control room (112) to report a loot of 11 lakh rupees.
Police Crackdown and Confession
Upon reaching the spot, the Taluka police station team found discrepancies in Dhirendersinh's statements during initial questioning. Strict interrogation broke his narrative, and he confessed that he, along with friends Dhruvrajsinh Gohil and Bhavesh Khuva, scripted the fake robbery. Police have officially registered a case against all three for misleading law enforcement and criminal conspiracy.
