The film industry is abuzz with massive anticipation surrounding the upcoming epic project 'Ramayana'. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the high-profile film reportedly boasts a staggering budget of around 4000 crore rupees. While initial teasers and posters received a mixed response from audiences, a newly released character poster has ignited fresh controversy and debate across social media platforms.
Veteran actor Arun Govil, who immortalized the character of Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar's iconic television adaptation, is returning to the epic universe, this time playing the pivotal role of King Dashrath. The fresh poster showcases him seated majestically on the throne of Ayodhya. The promotional caption highlighted his legacy and monumental return. However, despite the grandeur, observant social media users were quick to point out flaws.
Throne Details and Online Backlash
Soon after the poster dropped, netizens began scrutinizing the intricate details. While the fish emblem on the throne, symbolizing Awadh and Uttar Pradesh, received positive nods, the actor's overall look faced heavy criticism. Several users claimed that the poster heavily relies on artificial intelligence (AI) generation, pointing out that the beard looked remarkably fake. One user remarked, 'Why use such a fake-looking beard for such an important character?' Another commented that this was probably why the makers kept the character looks under wraps for so long.
About the Movie
Produced by Namit Malhotra, this mega-budget cinematic venture is scheduled to be released in two parts. The first installment will hit theaters this Diwali, while the second part is slated for 2027. The star-studded cast features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Following earlier criticism after the teaser launch, the makers had implemented certain graphical enhancements. It remains to be seen how well the movie impresses audiences upon its theatrical release.
