His wife Neelkanti Patekar and son Malhar Patekar performed the final rituals, marking the end of an era in Indian cinema. Malhar Patekar performed the last rites with a heavy heart, surrounded by grieving family members, friends, and fans who paid their last respects. The mortal remains were kept at his farmhouse 'Nanachi Wadi' for public homage. Several prominent political figures and film personalities attended, including Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, filmmaker Mehul Kumar, and actor Praveen Tarde.
Hospitalization and Demise
Nana Patekar passed away on October 8 at the age of 75. After suffering severe chest pain at his Goa residence, medical teams rushed him to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted resuscitation for over 45 minutes before pronouncing him dead at 5:20 AM. Following necessary medico-legal formalities and a post-mortem, his body was airlifted to Pune for the final rites.

Starting his career with the 1978 film 'Gaman', Nana Patekar delivered phenomenal performances in masterpieces like 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Khamoshi', 'Ab Tak Chhappan', 'Natsamrat', and 'Welcome'. A recipient of three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri, his distinct voice, intensity, and unmatched acting prowess ensured that his characters will remain etched in cinematic history forever.
