Known for his ironclad discipline and death-defying stunts, actor Vidyut Jammwal proved once again why he stands unmatched in physical fitness within Indian cinema. When The FreeLance team attended this special media event for 'Street Fighter' in Mumbai, we witnessed a live spectacle that challenged the limits of human endurance.
Initially, as Vidyut sat in a meditative posture, attendees assumed he was simply grounding himself. However, as minutes ticked by, his unblinking eyes remained completely fixed. Five, ten, and nearly fifteen minutes passed in absolute silence. When subtle tremors appeared in his legs and tears welled up in his eyes, the audience realized he had spent a quarter of an hour holding his breath. This extraordinary feat is a testament to his lifelong training in Kalaripayattu and yoga.
Hollywood Discipline and the Story Behind 'Dhalsim'
- Childhood Roots: Vidyut shared that instead of playing video games in childhood, he was deeply invested in physical outdoor sports, which ultimately paved his way into the 'Street Fighter' universe.
- Prodigious Prosthetics: While playing the iconic character Dhalsim usually requires shaving one's head, advanced prosthetics saved him from altering his real-world hairstyle.
- Punctuality Abroad: Praising Hollywood's strict adherence to time, he noted that a crew of 300 follows absolute discipline, where even a one-minute delay sparks concern from production about whether the actor is hospitalized.
Later in the interaction, when a reporter attempted to draw comparisons or prompt a fight scenario with a Bollywood actor, Vidyut playfully shut it down. Demanding a shift in narrative, he quipped, 'Shut up! Ask me a friendly question instead.' When pressed further, he jokingly invited the journalist to text him any actor's name, declaring himself ready to take on anyone. With 'Street Fighter' slated for release on October 16, Jammwal is undoubtedly poised to conquer the global stage once more.
