Why is Gen Z Delaying Marriage? YouTuber Raj Shamani Explains the Real Reason

Gen Z has constantly remained a subject of discussion due to their habits, work culture, and lifestyle choices. Older generations often assume that Gen Z is not serious about relationships and wants to escape responsibilities. However, when it comes to marriage, this generation has a very distinct and clear stance. They either believe in skipping marriage altogether or entering into it strictly on their own terms and conditions. But why does Gen Z not fully believe in the traditional concept of marriage?

Raj Shamani Explains Gen Z's Approach to Late Marriages

Famous YouTuber and content creator Raj Shamani recently shared his perspective on Gen Z's unique outlook on marriage. In a social media post, Raj discussed how it is now on-record that Gen Z is marrying later than any previous generation in history. This does not mean they do not want a family; they certainly do, but they refuse to rush into it.

According to Raj Shamani, a major reason behind this move is that this generation has witnessed families and couples around them who were not right for each other, yet remained trapped in lifelong commitments out of societal pressure or resignation. Gen Z actively avoids repeating this pattern. They fear that a lack of mutual compatibility or ending up in the wrong family could completely ruin their lives.

Does Delaying Marriage Mean Fear of Commitment?

Delaying marriage does not mean Gen Z has a fear of commitment. Rather, it stems from the fear of making the wrong choice and failing to sustain it properly. Gen Z wants to take their time before making one of the biggest decisions of their lives, ensuring they do not repeat the unpleasant situations they witnessed in their surroundings while growing up.

While previous generations often tied the knot in their early twenties (around 21-25), Gen Z prioritizes career stability, mental peace, and personal growth before settling down. Consequently, '30 is the new normal' for this generation, which often sparks debates between Gen Z and their families over the timeline of marriage.
