Delhi Police ACP Vivek Bhagat Promotion Put On Hold
The Delhi government has modified a recent order concerning the assignment of the current duty charge of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to DANIPS officers. Under the revised arrangement, ACP Vivek Bhagat has been removed from the list of officers receiving the additional charge. This development comes in the wake of severe controversy surrounding allegations made by women journalists who claimed harassment during a public demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
According to administrative clarifications, the proposal to assign the current duty charge to these 12 officers was initiated on August 25, much before the recent controversial events unfolded. The official notification was issued on October 5 after due approvals. However, following public outcry and scrutiny, ACP Vivek Bhagat voluntarily requested to step aside from taking up the temporary charge until a thorough and satisfactory inquiry into the allegations is concluded.
