Major Relief for Railway Passengers Ahead of Festive Season
The festive season in India always witnesses an enormous surge in passenger traffic, especially during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. Securing a confirmed train ticket becomes a daunting task for families traveling back home or planning vacations, as regular trains face severe 'no-room' statuses months in advance. To address this persistent challenge, the railway administration has stepped up preparations to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for the masses.
Railway zones across the country are continuously announcing special festival services. In line with this initiative, the South Eastern Railway has decided to operate a special train connecting key destinations, providing immense relief to commuters from various districts and surrounding regions.
Ranchi to Alipurduar Special Train Scheduled
According to official railway announcements, a special train will run between Ranchi in Jharkhand and Alipurduar in West Bengal. Designated as train numbers 08661 and 08662, this Ranchi-Alipurduar-North Bengal special service will operate from October 12 to November 11 to cater to the holiday rush.
This dedicated train will serve as an excellent option for travelers heading towards North Bengal and surrounding tourist spots during the autumn holidays. Officials expect that introducing this service will significantly alleviate pressure on regular trunk routes, increasing the chances of securing confirmed berths for stranded passengers.
Key Stoppages Designated Along the Route
To maximize convenience for regional travelers, the special train has been scheduled with strategic halts at multiple important junctions and stations. Within the Ranchi railway division, the train will officially stop at Muri, Jhalda, Kotshila, and Bokaro Steel City stations.
This expanded connectivity ensures that daily commuters and migrant workers from smaller towns along the corridor can easily board the train without traveling all the way to major terminals, saving both time and effort.
New Chopan-Madhupur Express Approved
In a separate development, the Railway Board has given its green light to a brand new express train connecting Chopan and Madhupur, bringing cheer to railway users in Ramgarh and neighboring districts. The Chopan-Madhupur Express (train numbers 13341/13342) will operate three days a week.

This new connection will directly link regions like Sonभद्र, Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, Hazaribagh, Koderma, and Giridih to Madhupur, offering seamless rail access toward the Deoghar region and reducing heavy reliance on roadways.
Modern LHB Coaches Planned for Enhanced Comfort
The proposed express train is slated to feature modern LHB coaches to ensure a safe and pleasant journey. The 20-coach formation will comprise general seating, sleeper classes, and AC compartments to cater to diverse passenger requirements across the 595-kilometer route.
As railway authorities monitor crowd density closely, further special services are expected to be rolled out across high-demand corridors as the festival dates draw closer, ensuring hassle-free travel for everyone.
