Major Counter-Terrorism Operation in Budgam Forests
In a significant success against terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have eliminated a top-tier Pakistani terrorist commander belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The encounter took place in the upper reaches and dense forests of the Budgam district, dealing a heavy blow to militant operations in the region. The intense gunbattle erupted in the Korag and Palmedan Mugpathari forest areas near Yousmarg in central Kashmir. Identity Confirmed as Top Lashkar Commander Suleman Shah alias Moosa
Following the conclusion of the initial phase of the encounter, security authorities and intelligence sources confirmed the identity of the neutralized terrorist. He was identified as Suleman Shah, alias 'Moosa' or 'Fauzi Moosa', a hardened Pakistani national who served as a commander for the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to police and security dossiers, Moosa had been on the radar of security agencies for a considerable period. He was actively involved in orchestrating subversive activities, recruiting local youth, and coordinating logistical support for terror cells operating across the valley. His elimination marks a crucial milestone in dismantling the active leadership of militant factions in central Kashmir.
Intense Search Operations Underway as 'Operation Korag' Continues
The anti-terrorist mission has been officially designated as 'Operation Korag'. Although the primary target, Moosa, has been neutralized, security forces have not lowered their guard. Authorities suspect that a few more non-local terrorists might be hiding in the sprawling forest canopy, taking advantage of the difficult terrain.
Reinforcements have been rushed to seal all possible escape routes from the region. Troops are employing advanced surveillance equipment, including drones and thermal imagers, alongside tracker dogs to thoroughly comb every square inch of the mountainous pocket.
