Strict Action By Police After Viral Video In Jamui
A shocking incident has come to light from Bihar's Jamui district, where a 10th-grade student and a girl were subjected to harassment and misbehavior by local miscreants while returning from Marwa Pahad. The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the act went viral on social media platforms, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement agencies.
Following the emergence of the video, the district police administration took suo motu cognizance of the matter. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly formed under the direct supervision of senior police officials to nab the culprits and ensure stringent legal action against those involved in disrupting public safety and decency.
Details Of The Incident And Social Media Outrage
According to reports, the incident occurred on the evening of September 19. The victimized students, residents of Jamui town, had visited Marwa Pahad on a scooter after finishing their coaching classes. While returning home, a group of local youths intercepted them and allegedly harassed them.
During the altercation, one of the perpetrators recorded multiple videos of the incident and uploaded them to the social media platform 'X', tagging top state dignitaries. The viral posts triggered massive public outrage, forcing the district administration and police high command to intervene instantly.
SIT Raids And Apprehension Of The Accused
Jamui SP Vishwajeet Dayal stated in a press briefing that the police became aware of the incident through social media monitoring. Under the leadership of SDPO Deepti Monali, an SIT was swiftly assembled. Through technical surveillance and video analysis, police identified five individuals involved in the crime.
So far, three minor accused have been apprehended by the police, while raids are underway at various suspected hideouts to trace and arrest the remaining absconding suspects. Authorities have assured that no leniency will be shown to anyone found guilty of such offenses.
Registration Of FIR Under Stringent BNS And POCSO Sections
Despite the absence of a formal complaint from the victims' families, Jamui police demonstrated zero tolerance by registering an FIR on their own initiative. A case has been registered at the Jamui Sadar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the stringent POCSO Act.

Authorities have urged the general public to refrain from sharing sensitive video content that compromises the identity of minors, reminding citizens that circulating such media is a punishable offense under the law. Further investigation is currently underway.
