The Controversy Surrounding the Jamui Viral Video
A shocking video from Bihar's Jamui district has gone viral on social media, showing a group of people allegedly misbehaving with a young man and a woman riding a scooter. The incident, reportedly dated September 19, has triggered widespread public outrage across the state. As the video circulated widely, mounting pressure on local authorities, the police swung into action to investigate the matter.
Initially, no formal police complaint was registered by either party involved. However, taking suo motu cognizance of the viral footage, local law enforcement agencies initiated a thorough probe. Police officials stated that efforts are underway to identify the victims as well as the individuals seen harassing them in the video.
JDU State President Umesh Kushwaha Assures Strict Action
As the incident gained political momentum, Janata Dal (United) State President Umesh Kushwaha strongly condemned the act. He asserted that the state government maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and lawlessness. He emphasized that the administration is extremely sensitive about such matters and justice will be served.
Umesh Kushwaha stated, "No matter how influential a criminal is, they cannot escape the long arms of the law. Everyone involved in this incident will be tracked down and put behind bars." He also hit back at the opposition for raising questions over Bihar's law and order, comparing current governance with the situation prior to 2005.
Minister Sunil Kumar Confirms Two Arrests
Bihar government minister Sunil Kumar also expressed deep anguish over the Jamui incident. He revealed that he personally spoke with the Jamui Superintendent of Police (SP) to take stock of the situation. Minister Kumar confirmed that the police have already arrested two individuals in connection with the case.

Commission Chairperson Apsara announced that a dedicated team will visit the incident site to meet the victim and review the investigation. The Commission has vowed to ensure strict punishment for the wrongdoers, regardless of their social standing.
