The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology has opened a Pandora's box of digital crimes, particularly targeting film celebrities and women in the public eye. Recently, a morphed deepfake video based on the chartbuster song 'Chuttamalle' from the pan-India film 'Devara: Part 1', featuring Telugu superstar Jr NTR and Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, went viral on social media, sparking nationwide outrage and discussions on digital safety.
Janhvi Kapoor took to her social media handle to express her deep anger and disappointment over the incident. She penned a detailed note describing the act as a criminal mindset. The actress stated that using technology to falsely depict a woman or create fake sexualized content without her consent is a severe violation of her dignity, autonomy, and personal boundaries.
The actress emphasized that the issue goes beyond a mere morphed video, pointing out that women in the entertainment industry have long faced unsolicited scrutiny regarding their choices, bodies, and freedom. She asserted that if a woman wears a specific outfit or feels comfortable in a certain environment, it in no way grants anyone the license to violate her privacy or capture unauthorized visuals.
Jr NTR also strongly condemned the video, calling it sick, disgusting, and shameful. The actor vowed to take strict legal action against the creators and distributors of the morphed clip. Several prominent film personalities, including Chiranjivi, Vijay Deverakonda, and Khushboo Sundar, came forward in solidarity, emphasizing the urgent need for stringent laws and societal pushback against deepfake harassment.
