Railway Infrastructure Upgrades Cause Major Train Disruptions
Indian Railways is continuously undertaking infrastructure enhancement and track modernization projects to improve safety and operational efficiency across various zones. As part of this ongoing drive, major remodeling and non-interlocking works have been officially scheduled at the Jharsuguda passenger yard under the South Eastern Railway zone. These crucial technical upgrades are aimed at augmenting track capacity and ensuring smoother movement of trains in the future, although they require temporary traffic blocks.
Commuters traveling through this vital transit corridor will experience disruptions over a multi-week period between November and December. Railway authorities have emphasized that while these maintenance blocks cause immediate inconvenience, they are absolutely necessary for long-term safety, punctuality, and the upgradation of overall rail network capabilities.
Long-Distance Express Trains Fully Cancelled
Due to the pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking phases associated with the Jharsuguda yard remodeling project, several important long-distance express trains connecting eastern India with southern and western regions have been completely cancelled on specific dates. Passengers who have already booked their journeys on these routes are advised to check their train status beforehand.
Key cancellations include the Hyderabad-Raxaul Express (Train No. 17005), which will remain cancelled on December 10, and its return service, the Raxaul-Hyderabad Express (Train No. 17006), cancelled on December 13. Similarly, the Tirupati-Raxaul Express (Train No. 17433) is suspended on December 7 and 14, while the reverse service (Train No. 17434) will not operate on December 10 and 17.
Modifications and Short-Term Terminations
In addition to complete cancellations, several other prominent services passing through the region have been heavily impacted. The Vasco da Gama-Jasidih Express (Train No. 17321) is cancelled on December 11, and the Jasidih-Vasco da Gama service (Train No. 17322) will not run on December 14. Furthermore, the Malda Town-Surat Express (Train No. 13425) is cancelled on December 5 and 12, with the return journey on December 7 and 14 also suspended.
The route of the popular Sambalpur-Gorakhpur Maurya Express has also been temporarily curtailed. Instead of operating to and from Sambalpur, Train No. 15027 will originate from Hatia on December 1, 7, and between December 9 and 16. Similarly, Train No. 15028 will terminate its journey at Hatia instead of Sambalpur on November 30, December 6, and from December 8 to 15.
