A shocking incident from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has once again brought embarrassment to the police department. A video has been widely circulating on social media showing a police sub-inspector crossing all boundaries of discipline and arguing aggressively with ordinary citizens on a public road. Following the widespread outrage on digital platforms, senior police officials took immediate cognizance of the matter and suspended the accused cop.
This incident has sparked concerns among local residents regarding police accountability and conduct. The officer, entrusted with maintaining law and order, was himself seen violating rules in a public space. Witnesses recorded the entire altercation on their mobile phones, and the footage quickly went viral online, compelling authorities to take swift administrative action.
Assigned to Emergency Response PRV Service
According to reports, the sub-inspector involved in the controversy was deployed on the Uttar Pradesh government's emergency response service, PRV 112. The personnel assigned to these vehicles are primarily responsible for rendering immediate help to citizens in distress. However, in this case, the protector himself turned out to be the instigator of trouble. Eyewitnesses claimed that the officer was in plain clothes and heavily intoxicated when he reached a spot following a report, subsequently getting into an ugly public spat.
The alleged drunkenness and subsequent unruly behavior on the streets raised serious questions about the screening and behavioral monitoring of personnel deployed on sensitive emergency duties. Once the matter reached senior officials, they immediately initiated a fact-finding inquiry.

Bystanders captured the sub-inspector's erratic behavior on video, which rapidly spread across various social media networks. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Colonelganj) Anjana Dahia stated that the department took formal note of the widely shared video and initiated necessary legal and administrative proceedings.
Following strict orders from higher authorities, Sub-Inspector Shiv Kumar Dwivedi, posted at police station Kakwan on PRV-4820, was placed under suspension with immediate effect. Departmental inquiry proceedings have also been formally initiated against him to uncover the complete sequence of events leading to the public altercation.
