A heart-wrenching tragedy from Kerala has left an entire family devastated, raising serious questions about child safety and parental supervision. Two young children, who were happily playing in their home's courtyard, suddenly vanished, only to be found lifeless in a nearby pond.
Children Vanish From Courtyard
According to details, the incident unfolded near a water body close to the residence. Shihab Musliyar's five-year-old daughter, Fathima Zahra, and his brother Shaukat's two-and-a-half-year-old son, Mohammad Hayan, were playing outside. When family members noticed they were missing, a frantic search began across the neighborhood.
After a thorough search, family members grew suspicious of a pond located near the house. Upon checking the water, they were horrified to find both children submerged.
Tragic Loss at the Hospital
Locals and family members immediately pulled the children out of the water. Fathima Zahra had already succumbed to the tragedy by the time she was brought ashore. Meanwhile, Mohammad Hayan showed faint signs of life but was in critical condition. He was rushed to a hospital in Perinthalmanna, where doctors placed him on a ventilator in the ICU.
Despite medical efforts and prayers from the family, Hayan passed away on Thursday morning, sealing a double tragedy for the household.
Police Investigation Underway
Local authorities reached the scene immediately after being notified, recovering the bodies for post-mortem examinations. Police have registered a case regarding the unnatural deaths and initiated a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident. This harrowing incident serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need to secure water bodies and maintain strict vigilance over young children.
