A Monumental Journey from Belgium to Uttar Pradesh
An extraordinary logistics operation is currently capturing nationwide attention as a massive industrial machine makes its way through various states to reach Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. The machine, known as a cyclisation reactor, is destined for India's first and largest biopolymer plant, which aims to produce eco-friendly bioplastic on a commercial scale. Weighing between 164 to 200 tons, transporting this colossal equipment required careful planning, specialized heavy-duty vehicles, and months of dedicated effort by logistics experts.
The journey began in Europe, where the reactor was loaded onto cargo ships before arriving at the Paradip port in Odisha. From the eastern coast, the equipment was mounted onto a specialized multi-axle trailer to navigate roadways across Jharkhand and Bihar before finally entering Uttar Pradesh. Crowds of curious onlookers have been gathering along highways to catch a glimpse of this engineering marvel as it slowly makes progress toward its final destination.
Engineering Marvel of Multi-Axle Trailers and Extra Engines
Moving such unprecedented weight across thousands of kilometers presented massive engineering challenges. Handled by J.M Bakhshi Heavy Logistics, the transport setup utilizes a massive multi-axle trailer equipped with hundreds of wheels to evenly distribute the colossal load and prevent road collapses. Multiple auxiliary engines are deployed to assist the primary vehicle, particularly when ascending inclines or navigating tricky terrain.
A specialized team of over 62 professionals has been accompanying the convoy day and night. Advance reconnaissance teams mapped out the entire route months in advance to identify low bridges, sharp turns, and overhead cables, ensuring safe passage through every district and state on the itinerary.
Overcoming Obstacles Near Varanasi
As the convoy traversed through Uttar Pradesh, minor hurdles emerged near Varanasi, where soft soil and alternative bypass routes caused some of the trailer wheels to sink slightly into muddy patches. Local administrative units and technical crews quickly mobilized excavators and cranes to reinforce the temporary pathways and keep the vehicle moving forward smoothly.
Senior project manager Aneek Bharti, who leads the operations on the ground, noted that months of administrative approvals, route clearances, and meticulous execution have gone into this milestone transport mission. For the core team members, the massive transport truck has effectively served as their temporary home for nearly half a year.
