A Sprawling Estate Designed for Personal Space
Spread across approximately 65,000 square feet of lush greenery, the property was originally acquired by Mithun and his wife back in 1985, shortly after the birth of their eldest son Mimoh. Following a period spent living in Ooty until 2007, the family permanently returned to Mumbai, turning the Madh Island retreat into their primary family home. According to Namashi, both his father and grandfather strongly believed that children deserve their own personal independence and space as they grow. This philosophy inspired the creation of separate cottages within the large compound for different family members.
The estate features dedicated spaces tailored for various needs. One cottage has been entirely converted into a fully equipped gymnasium, while another serves as a comfortable guest house. Mithun and his wife occupy a distinct cottage during their visits to Mumbai, though the actor spends a significant portion of his time in Kolkata due to professional commitments. The property's vast open courtyard has historically hosted grand Diwali celebrations, welcoming Bollywood icons like Dharmendra and Jitendra, thus cementing the estate's legacy as a witness to countless memorable gatherings.
A Home Office Filled with Historical Memorabilia
Mithun's home office doubles as a personal museum that chronicles his illustrious cinematic journey. The walls are adorned with his prestigious National Film Awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award milestones, and numerous fan-made sketches. Notably, the room also houses cherished photographs of the actor alongside prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, political leader Bal Thackeray, and legendary Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar.
