In today's fast-paced world, educating children about personal safety alongside formal education has become an absolute necessity. Schools frequently organize special sessions to teach children the difference between a 'good touch' and a 'bad touch' so they can recognize potential threats and speak out. A recent harrowing incident from Nagpur has highlighted the life-saving impact of such awareness classes, where a seven-year-old girl used her school lessons to expose a dark secret.
How a Simple School Class Uncovered the Crime
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Panchpaoli police station in Nagpur, Maharashtra. During a classroom session on personal safety and body boundaries, a seven-year-old student broke down and informed her teacher about the abuse she was enduring at home. The child revealed that a man renting a room in their house would lure her with chocolates, call her into his room, and subject her to obscene acts. Shocked by the revelation, the teacher immediately alerted the school administration and the child's family.
Months of Abuse and Threats of Silence
Following the disclosure, the victim's 32-year-old mother was left shattered and immediately approached the police to lodge a formal complaint. According to the police report, the accused, identified as 47-year-old Rajesh Kanojiya, lived as a tenant in their residential building. The young girl stated that the horrific acts took place repeatedly between June 30 and October 13. To ensure her silence, the accused had threatened the minor with dire consequences if she ever dared to share the ordeal with anyone. Fear-stricken, the child kept the trauma hidden until the school awareness session empowered her to speak up.
Accused Arrested as Police Launch Full Investigation
Acting swiftly on the mother's complaint, the Panchpaoli police registered a case and arrested the accused, Rajesh Kanojiya. Authorities are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter under relevant sections of law, including the POCSO Act. Child safety experts have lauded the teacher's efforts and emphasized that teaching children about bodily autonomy and creating a safe, judgment-free environment at home and school is crucial in preventing and exposing such heinous crimes.
