Orient Cables Makes A Steller Debut On Stock Exchanges
The primary market in Dalal Street continues to witness massive enthusiasm from investors, with companies making strong equity debuts. Orient Cables India Limited, a key player in networking cables and passive networking equipment, has made a remarkable entry into the stock market. The company's shares outperformed market expectations and delivered robust listing gains, driven by strong pre-listing grey market sentiments.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), shares of Orient Cables opened at 450 rupees, registering a solid 65.44 percent premium over its issue price of 272 rupees. Simultaneously, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the stock debuted at 448.10 rupees, marking a 64.74 percent jump. This stellar listing has pushed the overall market capitalization of the company to impressive levels, boosting investor confidence significantly.
During intraday trading sessions, the stock touched a high of 465.30 rupees on the BSE, representing a surge of nearly 71 percent from the issue price. Although profit-booking trimmed some initial gains towards the end of the session, closing at 403.30 rupees on BSE and 405 rupees on NSE, the initial investors still walked away with handsome profits.
Overwhelming Subscription and Investor Response
The success of any initial public offering depends heavily on market subscription, and Orient Cables received an overwhelming response across all categories. By the final day of bidding, the total subscription reached a staggering 92.27 times, reflecting solid fundamental backing and market trust.
Categorically, retail investors subscribed 32.21 times, while Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) saw heavy demand with a 192.68 times subscription. Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) also bid 121.90 times their allotted quota. Anchor investors had already contributed 165.60. crores prior to the public opening, solidifying confidence in the public issue.
Utilization of Proceeds and Future Growth Prospects
The company successfully raised 552 crores through this IPO, comprising a fresh issue of 320 crores and an offer for sale (OFS) of 85.29 lakh shares by existing promoters. The fresh capital will be deployed towards working capital requirements, machinery purchases, and partial repayment of outstanding debt.
