Video: Pakistan-Operated X Account Spreading Fake News on Rahul Gandhi Banned in India

In the digital age, social media has increasingly become a battleground for spreading misinformation and propaganda. A glaring example of this has recently come to light, raising serious concerns regarding national security and digital platforms. A notorious X (formerly Twitter) account that was actively spreading anti-India propaganda and inflammatory content has finally been banned in India. The handle was being operated directly from Pakistan with the malicious intent of creating social unrest.

Anti-India Propaganda Operated from Pakistan

Investigations revealed that the account operating under the name 'Anushi Tiwari Indian' was actually based in Pakistan, with its signup country shown as 'PK'. To deceive users, the bio included phrases like “Indian by birth”, “INC”, and “Rahul Gandhi Leader,” masking its true identity as a malicious tool designed to incite hatred and disrupt peace in India.

Dangerous Lies Regarding Rahul Gandhi

The situation escalated when this handle published an extremely sensitive and completely fabricated post claiming that Rahul Gandhi had been shot and injured during opposition protests in Delhi. To make the fake post look credible, an unrelated video from 2019 was repurposed. Furthermore, the account falsely claimed that 13 people had died in police firing in Delhi, a narrative aimed at inflaming public sentiments during major events like the BRICS summit.

Action Taken After Aaj Tak's Expose

This sinister operation was first brought to light through an investigative report by Aaj Tak. Delhi Police and investigative teams confirmed that the handle was systematically pushing fake videos and misleading alerts to manipulate public opinion. Despite fact-checks, the account continued its malicious spree until concerted efforts by Indian authorities and security agencies resulted in its official ban within the country.

Security Agencies on High Alert

According to reports, Indian security agencies are closely monitoring several other Pakistan-based handles that are weaponizing social media to destabilize the nation's harmony. Authorities have strongly urged citizens to refrain from believing or forwarding unverified sensational claims on social media and to rely exclusively on official, verified sources for news.
