Cyber Crime Branch DCP Lavina Sinha has released a video message cautioning citizens about these viral posts. Police are closely monitoring these profiles to determine if there is an underlying fraudulent motive. Authorities have strongly advised the public not to click on any suspicious links, payment attachments, or QR codes sent by strangers, as these can lead to compromised messaging apps and drained bank accounts.
Experts warn that these attractive offers could be a front for phishing attacks and malware distribution. Citizens have been urged to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to the national cyber crime helpline.
