A Heinous Crime Shocks Madhya Pradesh
In a chilling case that has shaken the foundations of familial trust and human morality, a local court in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district has delivered a landmark verdict in a brutal matricide case. A man was sentenced to death for attempting to violate his own 50-year-old mother and subsequently murdering her when she resisted his monstrous advances. Additional District and Sessions Judge RL Shakya of the Bonda civil court categorized the crime under the rarest of rare categories, handing down capital punishment to the convict.
The horrific incident, which occurred in July 2025, left the local community in deep shock and disbelief. Crimes of this nature challenge the very core of societal ethics. The meticulous investigation carried out by the local police and forensic experts ultimately ensured that the perpetrator could not escape the clutches of justice, despite several hurdles during the trial proceedings.
The Fateful Night and Gruesome Murder
According to the prosecution details, the incident unfolded during the intervening night of July 19 and 20, 2025. The victim's husband had travelled to Chhatarpur to bring their daughter home, leaving the 50-year-old woman alone at their residence with their only son, Santosh Lodhi. Taking advantage of the isolation, the accused attempted to outrage his mother's modesty.
When the brave woman strongly resisted her son's shameful attempt, the accused flew into a violent rage and attacked her with heavy stones and an axe. She sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to her wounds in the courtyard of the house. Following the brutal assault, the accused fled the scene, leaving the lifeless body behind.
Father Turns Hostile During Trial
One of the most challenging aspects of this high-profile trial was the behavior of the prime witness. The husband of the deceased—who is also the father of the accused—initially lodged the complaint, but later turned hostile during court proceedings, testifying in favor of his son. Such reversals often threaten to weaken criminal prosecutions.
However, the prosecution team relied heavily on infallible scientific evidence rather than depending solely on ocular testimony. The investigators ensured that every physical trace from the crime scene was meticulously preserved, documented, and sent for advanced forensic analysis.
Forensic Science and DNA as Ultimate Proof
With human witnesses failing to support the prosecution, the case hinged entirely on scientific validation. Forensic experts extracted biological samples from the crime scene and the victim's remains, matching them directly with the DNA profile of the accused son. Furthermore, fingerprint evidence collected from the area matched the biometric markers of Santosh Lodhi with absolute precision.
These watertight forensic conclusions removed any shadow of a doubt regarding the perpetrator's identity. The court relied firmly on these scientific markers, setting aside the hostile statements of the father, and successfully established the guilt of the accused beyond any reasonable doubt.
