During a recent episode, she opened up about the darker realities of the film industry, recounting an unsettling incident from her early career where a film director harassed her.
The incident dates back to the period following the success of 'Tanu Weds Manu', when Swara was working on a major lead role with a 56-day shooting schedule. The director began making her uncomfortable through constant inappropriate messages and poetic texts, crossing professional boundaries.
The Bizarre Rehearsal Demand
Swara shared that the film featured a romantic scene, for which the director insisted on a special rehearsal, claiming that only the two of them needed to discuss it. When she refused, demanding that the hero and the cinematographer should also be present, the situation took a disturbing turn.
Intoxicated Director at Her Doorstep
Staying at a guesthouse where she was the sole female member, Swara entered the rehearsal space only to find the director and cinematographer heavily intoxicated. She managed to leave, but later that night, the director showed up at her room, relentlessly knocking on her door.
When she opened the door, the heavily drunk director asked to hug her. Despite her immense fear, she managed to send him away. When asked why she didn't retaliate physically, Swara explained that her career and the film project were at stake.
