Tata Motors Makes a Bold Statement with Extreme Safety Test
Known for building some of the safest vehicles on Indian roads, Tata Motors has once again demonstrated the structural integrity of its cars. The homegrown automaker recently introduced a brand-new compact sedan and chose an unprecedented, high-stakes method to showcase its safety standards to the public.
While standard crash tests involve controlled impacts against solid barriers using dummy occupants, Tata decided to take things a notch higher. To prove the ultimate strength of its newly minted sedan, the engineering team subjected the vehicle to a crushing weight test that left automotive enthusiasts astonished.
The 20-Ton Debris Drop Challenge
To demonstrate the sheer resilience of the vehicle, a massive dump truck loaded with approximately 20 tons of stones, boulders, and gravel was positioned directly above the car. The entire load of heavy debris was then unleashed downward, burying the vehicle completely under tons of rocky weight. For this extreme demonstration, the company selected the CNG variant of the sedan to test how robustly the framework and internal fuel systems would hold up under crushing pressure.
Once the massive pile of debris was cleared away, the results spoke for themselves. Despite the immense downward force, the car's pillars and cabin structure remained completely intact without collapsing. Remarkably, upon inspection, the vehicle started immediately and was driven away under its own power without any mechanical failure.
Packed with Advanced Safety and Tech Features
Beyond its rigid body shell, the new sedan comes loaded with an array of active and passive safety features. While official crash test ratings from BNCAP are yet to be released, the dramatic debris test strongly suggests stellar protection levels. The car comes equipped with six airbags as standard, along with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Hill Hold Control.
Additional safety equipment includes rollover mitigation, corner stability control, a 360-degree camera setup, a built-in dashcam recorder, and ISOFIX child seat anchor points, ensuring comprehensive protection for all occupants.
Performance and Competitive Pricing
Under the hood, the compact sedan draws power from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 86 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. It is offered with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission choices, alongside a highly fuel-efficient CNG variant.
Priced competitively with an introductory ex-showroom tag starting at Rs 5.29 lakh (and Rs 6.29 lakh for the CNG version), it undercuts established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze significantly, making it a compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking uncompromising safety.
