Major Reshuffle in UP Police Department: 35 IPS Officers Transferred
In a major administrative overhaul aimed at strengthening law and order, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 35 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. The newly released transfer list includes senior officers holding positions such as DCP, SP, Additional Superintendent of Police, and various other key administrative roles. This strategic move is designed to enhance policing and ensure better administrative control at the grassroots level.
The state government has been constantly reviewing the performance of district-level officers to maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against crime. With these new postings, officers have been instructed to take immediate charge of their respective units and focus heavily on public grievance redressal, crime prevention, and maintaining absolute communal harmony across districts.
Prominent IPS Officer Charu Nigam Appointed to PAC Ghaziabad
Among the notable transfers in the list is 2014-batch IPS officer Charu Nigam, who has been given a crucial new assignment. Previously serving as the Superintendent of Police for UP-112 in Lucknow, she has now been appointed as the Commandant of the 47th Battalion PAC in Ghaziabad. Known for her strong administrative decisions and proactive fieldwork during her previous postings, her new role in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) is considered strategically significant for the National Capital Region (NCR) security framework.
During her tenure at UP-112, Charu Nigam introduced several systemic improvements to enhance emergency response times and streamline public assistance. Taking charge of a major PAC battalion in an industrial and sensitive hub like Ghaziabad will allow her to utilize her vast administrative experience effectively.
Commissionerate Level Changes and Youth Deployments
Significant changes have also been made in commissionerates such as Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Prayagraj, where several DCPs and SPs have been shifted. Furthermore, young officers from the 2022 batch, including Devesh Chaturvedi, Vivek Tiwari, and Ariba Noman, have been deployed to various districts as part of their early field training and administrative grooming. The state government continues to emphasize a balanced mix of seasoned leadership and energetic youth to handle complex law enforcement challenges efficiently.
