Political Turmoil in Bihar: Internal Rift Deepens Within JDU
The political temperature in Bihar has soared once again as an intense internal conflict has surfaced within the ruling Janata Dal United (JDU) ahead of the crucial Patna Graduates constituency MLC elections. While the Election Commission is yet to officially announce the dates, the war of words between party leaders has already created a storm in state politics.
At the center of this controversy are Mokama MLA Anant Singh and JDU chief spokesperson-cum-MLC Neeraj Kumar. Anant Singh has openly revolted against Neeraj Kumar, declaring that he will use all his might to defeat him and support an alternative candidate, Anuj Singh. This open defiance has posed a major challenge to the party leadership, which is now scrambling to contain the damage.
Anant Singh's Open Challenge and Counter-Attacks
Anant Singh did not mince words while criticizing Neeraj Kumar publicly, accusing him of various wrongdoings and even daring him to undergo a narco test to prove his innocence. The aggressive posture adopted by the strongman MLA has brought hidden factionalism within the ruling party right out into the open, giving the opposition ample ammunition to target the government.
Responding sharply to these allegations, Neeraj Kumar dismissed the claims and stated that if Anant Singh actually possessed credible evidence, he should approach the court instead of making noise in the media. Neeraj Kumar also clarified that while JDU has not yet formally declared him the candidate, he remains fully prepared for another term from the Graduates constituency.
Leadership Intervention and Electoral Equations
JDU National Working President Sanjay Jha addressed the controversy, stating that the matter has been brought to the attention of senior party leadership and will be resolved amicably very soon. He denied any deep-seated ideological fractures within the organization.
Political analysts point out that graduate constituency elections operate very differently from general assembly elections. With an electorate of around 88,000 spread across Patna, Nalanda, and Nawada, personal outreach and local influence matter far more than party symbols alone. Experts believe that ignoring a grassroots leader like Anant Singh could prove costly for the party's official candidate.
