Political excitement in Uttar Pradesh is scaling new heights ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, with the Ayodhya constituency turning into the epicenter of a high-stakes verbal duel. Following the electoral challenge initiated between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has now jumped into the fray, openly inviting Akhilesh to contest from Ayodhya.
Speaking to the media in Ambedkar Nagar, Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar stated that Yogi Adityanath has readily accepted Akhilesh Yadav's challenge. He urged Akhilesh to step forward and file his nomination against the Chief Minister without hesitation. Rajbhar further taunted the SP leader, saying that if he is afraid of contesting from Ayodhya, he is welcome to fight from Zahoorabad, where he will experience the true strength of the NDA alliance and his own political standing.
Origins of the Electoral Challenge
The controversy began on October 8 when Akhilesh Yadav visited Ayodhya. Taking a jibe at the ruling BJP, the SP chief claimed that the party was unable to finalize a candidate for the Ayodhya seat, while the Samajwadi Party had already declared Tej Narayan Pandey alias Pawan Pandey as its nominee. Akhilesh had challenged that if Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was so confident of his victory, he should personally contest the election from Ayodhya.
Reacting sharply to the challenge, CM Yogi Adityanath responded during a public rally in Balrampur on October 10. He stated that Akhilesh Yadav should file his nomination from Ayodhya, assuring him that he too would file his nomination to face him in a direct electoral battle. Yogi emphasized that his visits to Ayodhya are driven by development rather than petty politics, while slamming the opposition.
BJP Puts Pressure on SP
Following the Chief Minister's counter-challenge, various BJP leaders have cornered the SP chief, arguing that his rhetoric has backfired. As political analysts closely monitor the developments, the Ayodhya seat remains a major focal point for future electoral strategies in Uttar Pradesh.
