Shivraj Singh Chouhan Addresses Viral Student Protest Slogans
The national capital has witnessed massive outrage and protests following a heinous crime against a 17-year-old girl. Female students and various women's collectives took to the streets to demand stricter safety measures and accountability. During these demonstrations, provocative and satirical slogans, such as 'Ek Kachori, Do Samosa, In Mardo Ka Kya Bharosa', went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and debate.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reacted sharply to these slogans, expressing deep anguish over the circumstances that led young women to voice their lack of trust in men so openly. Sharing a video on social media, the senior leader emphasized that society must deeply reflect on why the situation has deteriorated to such an extent.
A Call for Introspection by Society and Men
Speaking at the 'Navgati' Education Scholarship event in Bhopal, Chouhan elaborated on the pressing need for social change. He questioned why daughters are losing faith in the male members of society and stressed that if such a trust deficit exists, it reflects poorly on our collective values. He pointed out that perpetrators of crimes against women are often known acquaintances rather than complete strangers.
He urged men, young boys, and parents to look within and introspect. Ensuring the dignity, safety, and rights of women is not merely a government or law enforcement duty, but a fundamental societal obligation that every citizen must uphold.
Students Demand Institutional Accountability in Delhi
Meanwhile, protests organized by the Delhi Women Collective outside Dayal Singh College saw students raising slogans like 'No Means No' and demanding safer public spaces. Despite administrative hurdles, the protestors made it clear that women will no longer remain silent in the face of harassment and oppression.
The student representatives stated that women should not be viewed merely as objects and that systemic changes are required to hold authorities accountable. They vowed to continue their peaceful agitation across educational institutions until substantive safety reforms are implemented.
Welfare Initiatives for Driver Families Announced
During the same event in Bhopal, Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also announced important welfare measures for the families of commercial vehicle drivers, whom he described as the backbone of the national economy. Financial scholarships ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 rupees annually will be provided to children of drivers who score high marks in school examinations, alongside educational support through special coaching initiatives.
