A major bust in illegal gas refilling
A massive illegal LPG refilling racket operating in Gujarat has been busted by local authorities. The operation was being run covertly from a warehouse parking area, where cooking gas was being illegally transferred from a commercial tanker into domestic and other cylinders, bypassing all safety norms.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the isolated spot and caught the accused red-handed. Such operations pose a massive threat to public safety, as handling inflammable materials without proper safety protocols can lead to catastrophic disasters.
How the illegal network operated
According to the police investigation, the mastermind had rented the premises for a nominal monthly fee with the connivance of a local security guard. A company LPG tanker was brought to the location, and workers used pipes to siphon off gas into various cylinders.
Authorities have arrested nine people in connection with the case and seized properties, vehicles, and equipment worth lakhs of rupees. Cases have been registered under strict legal provisions, including the Essential Commodities Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
