Ather Energy's Remarkable Milestone in the EV Market

The demand for electric two-wheelers in the Indian market is growing at an unprecedented pace. Amid rising fuel prices and environmental concerns, consumers are rapidly shifting towards battery-powered vehicles. In this competitive landscape, startups have revolutionized the industry with modern technology and sleek designs. Prominent Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has achieved a monumental milestone that has captured the entire auto sector's attention, successfully selling 8 lakh electric scooters nationwide.

According to data available on the Vahan portal, Ather Energy crossed the cumulative customer delivery milestone of 8 lakh electric scooters on September 28, 2026. With this remarkable achievement, Ather has become the fourth electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India to reach this milestone, following Ola Electric, TVS Motors, and Bajaj Auto. Interestingly, Hero MotoCorp's electric brand 'Vida' still trails behind this 8-lakh sales figure, highlighting Ather's growing market dominance.

Accelerating Sales Growth Over Recent Years

Ather's journey began with a strong foundation, but the true acceleration in sales has been witnessed over the past four years. Particularly since 2025, the company has experienced a massive surge in demand. Statistics reveal that between January 2025 and September 28, 2026, Ather sold approximately 4.75 lakh electric scooters. This means nearly 59 percent of the total cumulative sales came within this 21-month window, reflecting a rapid expansion in consumer adoption.

Popularity of Rizta and New Models

Driving this success is Ather's diverse portfolio and new product launches. The company recently introduced the new 'Konarc' electric scooter on August 29, which is expected to further boost sales momentum. In August alone, the company retailed 29,694 electric scooters across the country, marking its third-highest monthly sales ever. The family-focused 'Rizta' model contributed the lion's share at around 76 percent of total dispatches, while the 450 series accounted for approximately 23 percent.
