Reliance Jio has introduced an attractive offer for feature phone users to mark its 10th anniversary. Aimed at bridging the digital divide, the company is offering the JioBharat 4G handset at an effective price point along with six months of complimentary recharge benefits.
Under this scheme, customers can purchase selected models of the JioBharat 4G phone for Rs 1,499. The package includes unlimited voice calling and 14GB of high-speed data every month for a duration of six months, effectively eliminating separate recharge expenses during this period.
Industry analysts note that traditional 2G users typically spend around Rs 199 per month on basic recharges, amounting to roughly Rs 1,200 over six months. By bundling the device and half a year of connectivity for Rs 1,499, Jio has pegged the net upgrade cost from 2G to 4G at just Rs 299.
Beyond basic calling, the device features a 2.4-inch display, a 2000mAh battery, and robust 4G network support. It also brings modern digital services to budget-conscious users, including UPI payments via JioPay, live television streaming through JioTV, and entertainment content on JioHotstar.
This strategic offering is expected to accelerate India's transition from legacy 2G networks to high-speed 4G connectivity, bringing millions of rural and semi-urban consumers into the digital mainstream.
