How the Navy Sailor Fell into the Honeytrap
In yet another alarming instance of hostile intelligence agencies attempting to compromise India's internal security, the Andhra Pradesh Police Counter Intelligence (CI) wing has arrested Indian Navy sailor Pradeep Mukherjee from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. According to investigators, the accused sailor fell victim to a honeytrap operated by a Pakistani female intelligence operative through social media platforms.
The operation came to light following rigorous technical surveillance and digital footprint analysis by counter-intelligence teams. The operative reportedly befriended the sailor under a false digital identity, gradually winning his trust and extracting sensitive operational details regarding the strategic naval base in Visakhapatnam.
Dramatic Arrest from INS Agrani, Coimbatore
The arrest was executed swiftly after intelligence inputs pinpointed the sailor's location. Pradeep Mukherjee was currently attending a specialized Management Development Course at the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Agrani facility located in Red Fields, Coimbatore, having arrived there from Visakhapatnam just a week prior.
A special team from the Counter Intelligence cell arrived at the naval facility, took the sailor into custody, and formally notified local authorities. After obtaining a transit warrant from a local magistrate, investigators transported him to the CI headquarters in Vijayawada for thorough joint interrogation.
Financial Audits and Hawala Trail Under Scrutiny
Beyond the leakage of classified documents, investigative agencies are closely examining potential financial transactions. Authorities are probing whether the accused received monetary compensation through hawala channels or digital payment gateways in exchange for sensitive defense secrets. Forensic examination of his electronic devices is currently underway to reconstruct his digital interactions and financial trails.
