NIA cracks down on ISIS online radicalisation module
In a major crackdown against terror networks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against nine members and supporters of the banned terrorist organisation ISIS. The accused were allegedly involved in radicalising gullible youths to join violent terrorist activities and wage a proxy war against the nation.
According to the federal agency, the accused had entered into a larger conspiracy to support the banned outfit, primarily utilizing social media platforms like Instagram. Their ultimate objective was to establish a caliphate in India through violent jihad, thereby directly challenging the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the country.
CBI and NIA unearth secure communication apps and bomb-making plans
The exhaustive investigation revealed that the accused not only brainwashed youngsters but also planned and prepared for making explosives and undergoing rigorous weapon training. In furtherance of their conspiracy, they even developed and tested a secure mobile application to communicate secretly among themselves, avoiding the prying eyes of intelligence agencies.
The chargesheet has been filed before a special NIA court in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The accused include Mohammad Rehmatullah Shariff, Mohammed Danish, Mirza Sohail Baig, Lucky Ahmad, Jishan Abdul Majid, Mir Ashif Ali, Abdul Salaam, Sharuk Khan, and Shaikh Faiz ur Rehman.
Strict charges invoked under BNS and UAPA
The central agency has invoked stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to criminal conspiracy and endangering India's sovereignty, along with various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) dealing with punishment for unlawful activities and membership of terror outfits.

The case originally stemmed from an FIR registered on March 23, 2026, at the Vijayawada II Town police station, which was later taken over by the NIA. So far, 11 accused individuals and one child in conflict with the law have been apprehended in connection with this terror module.
