Video: Actor Shobhinav Satya Faces Severe Backlash for Calling Online Viewers 'Part of Sin' Amid Piracy Debate

While the small-budget film 'Hanuman Ansh' continues to create history at the box office, its lead actor Shobhinav Satya has found himself at the center of a social media controversy. An old video of the actor addressing the issue of online piracy has resurfaced, drawing sharp criticism and severe trolling from internet users.

What Did Shobhinav Satya Say About Piracy?

The viral video dates back to August of this year when Shobhinav shared it on his official Instagram handle. In the clip, while expressing gratitude to the audience for showering love on the movie, the actor strongly condemns the rampant online piracy surrounding the film.

Satya pointed out that large numbers of people were watching pirated copies on mobile phones and televisions illegally. He sternly remarked that since the makers had not released the film online, anyone secretly streaming or downloading it is unknowingly becoming a part of someone else's 'sin'. He further emphasized that a cinematic experience like 'Hanuman Ansh' is meant for theaters and families, not for small mobile screens.

Over 600 Links Taken Down, But Trolls React

During the video, the actor also shared that the film's legal team had successfully taken down 600 to 700 pirated links from the internet. However, his choice of words—specifically linking illegal viewing to a 'sin'—did not sit well with several internet users, triggering widespread discussions and mockery on Reddit and other platforms.

One user commented that trying to evoke emotional or religious sympathy to drive business is an even bigger sin. Another user stated that while discouraging piracy is completely justified, framing it as a moral or religious sin crossed a line. Netizens argued that actors should focus on legal actions rather than moral policing.

Box Office Triumph of 'Hanuman Ansh'

Despite the ongoing online debate surrounding the actor's past statement, 'Hanuman Ansh' remains an undisputed commercial success. Made on a modest budget, the film has crossed monumental milestones, grossing over 400 crores globally and proving to be one of the biggest box office surprises of the year.
