In a deeply shocking and heartbreaking development for Indian cinema, legendary actor and philanthropist Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75. Known for his intense performances, unforgettable dialogue delivery, and dedicated social work, he suffered a cardiac arrest at his flat in Goa and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
According to doctors at Manipal Hospital, continuous CPR was administered for nearly 45 minutes, but he remained unresponsive. Following medico-legal procedures, his mortal remains were airlifted to Pune, where his final rites were performed with full state honors near his famous farmhouse, 'Nanachi Wadi'.
A Legacy on Screen and Beyond
Born as Vishwanath Patekar, Nana began his cinematic journey with the 1978 film 'Gaman'. Over the decades, he delivered iconic performances in masterpieces like 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Agni Sakshi', 'Tirangaa', and 'Ab Tak Chhappan'. He was a recipient of three National Film Awards and the prestigious Padma Shri, leaving an indelible mark on both Hindi and Marathi cinema.
Beyond films, Patekar was deeply involved in social welfare. Alongside actor Makarand Anaspure, he co-founded the 'Naam Foundation', working tirelessly to support drought-stricken farmers and families in rural Maharashtra. His patriotism and commitment to social causes won him immense respect across the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other leaders and actors, including Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, and Riteish Deshmukh, paid emotional tributes to the departed soul. The state funeral saw the presence of numerous prominent political figures and film fraternity members paying their final respects.
