Kannada superstar and 'Ravana' actor Yash recently addressed the ongoing discussions and criticism surrounding the massive budget of the much-awaited mythological project 'Ramayana'. Speaking at a promotional event in Bengaluru, Yash responded to internet trolls and explained the bold vision behind the film.
Ever since reports surfaced that 'Ramayana' is being made on an unprecedented budget of ₹4,000 crore, trade experts and fans have debated whether an Indian film can recover such a huge financial investment.
Yash Highlights Cultural Mindset Differences
Defending producer Namit Malhotra's bold statement, Yash said, 'There is a problem in India. People here don't like it when someone speaks with absolute confidence. Something similar happened with Namit's statement. But the situation is completely opposite in Western countries. If you humbly tell them you made a good film, they will consider it a small project. That is why Namit spoke with complete confidence to prove the strength of Indian cinema globally.'
Breaking Down the ₹4,000 Crore Budget
Yash clarified that 'Ramayana' is a two-part cinematic franchise, and the combined budget for both films stands at ₹4,000 crore. He added that this amount covers heavy post-production work, high-end visual effects by DNEG, and extensive worldwide promotions. The scale surpasses global blockbusters like 'Avatar: The Way of Water' and 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Cast and Release Details
Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the pan-India epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Part one of 'Ramayana' is slated to hit theatres on November 5, 2026.
