New Delhi: Videos related to wildlife often capture public attention on social media, but some visuals leave a profound impact on viewers. A video shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda has become a major talking point on the internet. The footage showcases the depth of emotion and social bonding among elephants, qualities typically associated primarily with humans.
In the video, a herd of elephants can be seen gathered around a deceased companion, displaying a serene yet deeply mournful posture. They gently touch the body with their trunks, bidding a poignant farewell. Sharing the video, IFS officer Susanta Nanda captioned it: “Goodbyes simply means I will miss you till we meet again. Grieving just like us. Treat the wild with empathy.”
The video has elicited emotional responses from social media users worldwide. Many praised the loyalty and empathy displayed by the pachyderms, while others emphasized the need for humans to coexist peacefully with nature. Wildlife experts note that elephants possess high emotional intelligence and complex social structures, often recognizing and grieving the loss of herd members.
