In a historic first, the 72nd National Film Awards are moving out of New Delhi, marking a monumental shift in the 72-year history of the ceremony. The breathtaking Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, is all set to host this mega star-studded event, bringing together the stalwarts of Indian cinema under one magnificent roof. The venue has been meticulously prepared to offer an unforgettable experience to the attendees, blending India's architectural pride with cultural grandeur.
The event is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday at 3 PM, witnessing the convergence of top-tier Bollywood stars, regional cinema icons, technicians, and dignitaries. The choice of Kevadia as the host location not only highlights the scenic beauty of Gujarat but also underlines the government's efforts to decentralize major national events and celebrate them across different parts of the country.
State-of-the-Art German Domes and Traditional Gujarati Hospitality
To accommodate the massive gathering of celebrities and officials, an expansive venue has been constructed near the Statue of Unity. A large general pavilion with a seating capacity of around 1,000 people, along with a separate air-conditioned dome for over 1,000 VIP guests, has been erected. The VIP dome has been engineered using high-tech German structural techniques, ensuring both elegance and safety.
Attendees will also be treated to a mesmerizing laser light and sound show, alongside an authentic culinary experience featuring rich Gujarati delicacies. Top Stars and Acclaimed Films to Be Honored
The 72nd National Film Awards will honor 92 artists and technicians across various categories. Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who won Best Actor for his stellar performance in 'Chandu Champion', has already arrived at the venue. He shares the Best Actor honor with Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty, who won for his remarkable role in 'Brahmayugam'.
Critically acclaimed film 'Article 370' has bagged the Best Feature Film award, with Yami Gautam receiving the Best Actress accolade for her powerful performance. Randeep Hooda has been recognized as the Best Debut Director for 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar', while 'Bhaanger' won the Best Non-Feature Film award.
President Droupadi Murmu to Grace the Occasion
President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the ceremony, accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, alongside various central and state ministers.
