Major Boost for Agniveers: Multiple States Announce Heavy Reservation in Uniformed Jobs

States Announce Major Reservations for Retiring Agniveers

As the first batch of soldiers recruited under the central government's Agnipath scheme nears the completion of its four-year tenure, multiple state governments have stepped forward with robust career opportunities. Recognizing the discipline, rigorous training, and dedication instilled during military service, states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh have approved significant job quotas for former Agniveers in uniformed public services.

Experts believe that integrating these well-trained veterans into state police forces, forest departments, and prison services will greatly enhance internal security and administrative efficiency. The policy measures are designed to provide a seamless transition from military life to civilian public sector employment, ensuring financial security for the youth.

Madhya Pradesh Approves 20 Percent Quota in Police and Forest Services

The Madhya Pradesh government has cleared a major proposal reserving 20 percent of positions in key uniformed departments for former Agniveers. The approved departments include police constables, special armed forces, jail guards, forest guards, and excise constables. This dedicated quota will function alongside existing reservations for home guards and ex-servicemen, offering substantial recruitment pathways.

Administrative authorities noted that this structural inclusion ensures that young individuals leaving the armed forces after four years will find immediate and stable employment opportunities within state government machinery, leveraging their physical and operational expertise.

Maharashtra Exempts Agniveers from Written Exams and Offers Age Relaxation

The Maharashtra cabinet has introduced a progressive framework, approving a 10 percent reservation for domiciled former Agniveers in Group C uniformed public and semi-governmental services. Notably, eligible candidates will be exempted from taking preliminary written recruitment exams, as their four-year military training will be formally recognized by the state.

Furthermore, the upper age limit for these candidates will be relaxed by four years to prevent any disadvantage. Opportunities will span across various departments, including police constables, driver constables, prison guards, firefighters, forest guards, and state intelligence personnel.

Chhattisgarh Implements New Recruitment Rules for Veterans

Following suit, the Chhattisgarh state cabinet has approved dedicated recruitment rules to provide 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in third-category civil services. Positions in the police, forest, and jail departments have been officially earmarked under these newly formulated guidelines, ensuring transparent selection standards and secure career trajectories for returning soldiers.
