The Fractured Opposition in Bihar MLC Polls
Political tensions have once again surfaced within the opposition camp in Bihar as the race for the upcoming Legislative Council elections heats up. Despite displays of unity at the national level, the Grand Alliance in the state has completely failed to achieve a consensus regarding seat sharing. Key political players who were expected to put up a united front against the ruling coalition are now fiercely competing against each other in multiple constituencies.
With the election commission announcing polls for eight crucial seats, all major political formations have initiated their campaign strategies. However, the lack of coordination within the opposition bloc has raised serious questions about its electoral readiness and internal stability.
RJD and Congress Collide Head-On
In a surprising turn of events, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress party have fielded rival candidates on several seats, turning the contest into a multi-cornered fight among allies. Following unilateral announcements by the RJD, local Congress leadership expressed deep resentment, prompting the high command to step in and clear candidates for multiple constituencies.
Key areas such as Saran Teachers constituency, Patna Graduates seat, and Darbhanga constituencies are now witnessing a direct electoral contest between candidates belonging to the same alliance. Political analysts note that repeating past mistakes of uncoordinated candidacy could severely damage the opposition's electoral prospects, especially when the ruling NDA has maintained disciplined seat-sharing arrangements.
