A shocking incident of a bridge collapse has come to light from Assam, where a concrete bridge under construction over a local river suddenly caved in before completion. Around 15 workers were engaged in construction work when the mishap occurred, but fortunately, all of them escaped unhurt, averting a major tragedy.
Concerns Over Construction Quality and Corruption
The bridge was being built at an estimated cost of Rs 3.31 crore to ease connectivity for local residents. However, the sudden collapse of the concrete structure has triggered widespread anger among the public, who alleged massive corruption and the use of substandard construction materials by the authorities and contractors involved.
Locals Demand High-Level Probe
Following the incident, agitated residents slammed the divisional officials and the contractor, demanding strict accountability. They have called for a thorough high-level investigation into the project quality and financial irregularities to punish those responsible for the collapse.
