Shocking Incident Shakes National Capital
In a deeply disturbing incident highlighting safety concerns in the national capital, a 10-year-old minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Delhi's Sadar Bazar area. The horrifying incident took place late at night when the young victim had stepped out of her house to purchase basic stationery items required for her studies.
According to police details, the girl left her home around 11 PM to buy notebooks and a pen. A local shopkeeper, identified as 56-year-old Maksud, allegedly lured the minor into his nearby shop under false pretexts and subjected her to a brutal sexual assault.
Accused Tied Victim's Limbs and Committed Crime
The severity of the crime is evident from the fact that the accused tied the young girl's hands and feet to prevent her from raising an alarm or seeking help. When the girl did not return home after a considerable amount of time, her anxious family members initiated a search and subsequently approached local law enforcement authorities.
Following a PCR call received late that night, teams from the Sadar Bazar police station, the ACP office, and the local women's police station rushed to the spot. A formal First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the North District women's police station based on the family's complaint, invoking stringent sections including rape, wrongful confinement, and the POCSO Act.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Demonstrating prompt action, the police tracked down and arrested the 56-year-old accused on the same day. He was subsequently produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. Authorities have assured that the investigation is proceeding rigorously to build a watertight case against the perpetrator, while ensuring the victim's identity remains strictly confidential as mandated by law.
