12 Delhi Metro Stations Closed Amid Tight Security
Security measures in the national capital have been significantly stepped up to maintain law and order across sensitive zones. In line with these protocols, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of 12 prominent metro stations until further notice, restricting passenger entry and exit at these locations.
According to the official updates, the affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Tirth, Mandi House, Barakhamba, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, RK Ashram Marg, and New Delhi. However, interchange facilities at major junctions like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi, and Central Secretariat remain operational for commuters wishing to switch lines.
Authorities have urged passengers to check the operational status of metro networks before planning their journeys to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.
Section 163 Imposed in New Delhi District
Along with the restrictions on metro travel, Delhi Police have enforced Section 163 within the New Delhi district to ensure public safety and prevent any unauthorized gatherings. The prohibitory orders strictly forbid unlawful assemblies and public demonstrations without prior written permission from competent authorities.
The restrictions include a ban on gatherings of five or more people in public spaces, processions, rallies, picketing, sit-ins, and slogan-shouting. Carrying weapons, banners, placards, lathis, swords, or similar objects is also prohibited. Violators face strict legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and other applicable legal frameworks.
Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory
With traffic movement regulated around Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas, the Delhi Traffic Police have released a comprehensive advisory. Commuters are advised to avoid affected corridors such as Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road, and Parliament Street, and to allocate extra travel time when heading towards central Delhi.
