Monsoon and post-monsoon seasons bring a surge in vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Health authorities across various states issue regular advisories, urging citizens to remain vigilant against mosquito breeding and symptoms.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the critical phase of dengue typically occurs between the third and seventh day of illness. During this period, patients may experience a drop in fever, leading many to believe they are recovering. However, experts emphasize that dropping fever does not indicate complete recovery.
Platelet counts often plummet during this window, and plasma leakage can lead to severe complications. Doctors advise continuous monitoring of blood parameters, hydration, and avoiding self-medication with painkillers like ibuprofen, which can exacerbate bleeding risks.
