Former IAS Divya Mittal Steps Into Politics After Resignation
Former Indian Administrative Service officer Divya Mittal has cleared all speculations surrounding her future by officially announcing her entry into the political arena. In a video message released on social media, she shared her decision to embark on a political journey aimed at challenging the status quo and questioning the existing system.
Having served in the bureaucracy for nearly 13 years, Divya Mittal resigned from her administrative position, which was officially accepted in mid-September. Since her departure, citizens and political analysts alike had been speculating about her next career move. With this announcement, she has made it clear that she intends to work directly with the grassroots public.
Starting Her Political Journey From Uttar Pradesh
In her video statement, the former bureaucrat emphasized that her political journey will commence from Uttar Pradesh. She noted that the state has not merely been a workplace for her, but a place where local residents embraced her like family. She appealed to teachers, doctors, farmers, laborers, lawyers, and students to join hands in this new mission.
She introduced a new campaign slogan, 'Chaliye Hisab Mangte Hain' (Let's Demand Accountability). Her core message centers on empowering ordinary citizens to question long-standing systemic inefficiencies and demand answers regarding basic public infrastructure such as schools, roads, and bridges.
A Decision to Stay Independent of Political Parties
In a bold move away from traditional party politics, Divya Mittal declared that she will not associate herself with any established political party. She argued that true accountability cannot be demanded while standing beneath party banners that have failed to bring meaningful change over decades. Instead, she plans to build an independent platform driven entirely by public grievances.
Addressing identity politics and caste equations, she stated that her administrative decisions were never guided by bias or favoritism. Urging citizens to stop waiting for a political messiah, she asserted that lasting change must be driven collectively by the people themselves.
Understanding the Pension Rules After Resignation
Following her resignation, questions arose regarding her eligibility for pension benefits as a former IAS officer. According to administrative service rules, when an officer voluntarily resigns from service, their past continuous service is treated as null and void for retirement benefits. Consequently, resignation forfeits the right to claim a pension, a financial and professional reality that she acknowledged while stepping down.
