Global Crude Oil Prices Remain Above $100 While India Keeps Fuel Rates Steady

Global Crude Oil Market Volatility Continues

International crude oil markets remain highly volatile as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East persist. Brent crude continues to trade above the psychological mark of $100 per barrel, hovering around $103 to $106. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fluctuates between $89 and $93 per barrel following recent market corrections.

Analysts point out that ongoing US-Iran friction, potential restrictions on diesel exports by Washington, and supply route disruptions are keeping energy prices elevated. Although the US plans to release additional oil from its emergency reserves to stabilize the market, ongoing global supply chain constraints continue to exert upward pressure on refined petroleum products.

Middle East Oil Supply Recovers, But Refined Products Lag

Even as crude prices remain high, production and export figures from key Middle Eastern nations are showing signs of recovery. According to shipping data and reports from financial institutions, crude exports from the region have risen to between 12.8 million and 17.5 million barrels per day, reaching nearly 98 percent of pre-conflict levels.

Saudi Arabia has resumed oil transportation through alternative pipelines, boosting export volumes. However, industry experts caution that the global availability of refined products like diesel and gasoline remains at only a fraction of normal capacity, creating persistent shortages in major international consumer markets.

Steep Fuel Price Surges Across Developing Nations

The prolonged sustenance of crude oil above $100 has triggered severe inflationary pressures globally. Countries like Lebanon and Nigeria have witnessed staggering spikes of up to 104 percent in diesel prices. Similarly, nations such as Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, and the Philippines are grappling with massive hikes in retail fuel costs, placing immense financial strain on households and businesses alike.

India Maintains Stable Retail Fuel Rates

In sharp contrast to the global crisis, India’s state-run oil marketing companies have kept retail petrol and diesel prices unchanged. In New Delhi, petrol remains steady at Rs 102.12 per liter and diesel at Rs 95.20 per liter. While global energy shocks pose a constant threat to import-dependent economies, proactive domestic pricing strategies have insulated Indian consumers from the extreme volatility seen elsewhere in the world.
