Gomti River Swells, Inundating Residential Areas in Lucknow
The water level of the Gomti River in Lucknow has risen sharply, submerging multiple localities including Dubagga and Faizullaganj. Floodwaters have breached residential boundaries, paralyzing daily life and forcing local authorities to step up monitoring and relief preparations as water levels are predicted to rise further in the coming hours.
District administration officials visited vulnerable spots to assess the situation, though severe waterlogging prevented access to several interior pockets, drawing criticism from affected villagers. Additional control rooms have been set up, and patrolling has been intensified to ensure public safety during this critical weather event.
Crop Losses and Forced Migration of Families
Agricultural fields have suffered extensive damage, with hundreds of bighas of mature paddy and vegetable crops completely destroyed by the gushing river water. Several families whose homes collapsed or became uninhabitable due to incessant rain and rising waters have been forced to relocate, renting alternative accommodation at steep prices just to keep their children safe.
Citizens stranded in waterlogged colonies are grappling with acute shortages of clean drinking water, as tubewells spew foul-smelling water and municipal tankers struggle to reach remote corners of the affected neighborhoods.
