The administrative machinery in Haryana is taking decisive steps to make the public distribution system (PDS) completely transparent, accountable, and technology-driven. Authorities are holding continuous review meetings to ensure that subsidized food grains reach the intended beneficiaries at the grassroots level without any systemic hurdles.
During a recent high-level administrative review, food and civil supplies officials announced that new ration depots will soon be sanctioned and allotted across various districts. This move aims to reduce travel distances for citizens residing in remote or newly expanded urban pockets, ensuring equitable access to essential commodities.
Direct Bank Transfers for Depot Holders' Margins
In a major relief for fair price shop owners, the state government has streamlined the margin payout mechanism. Operational margins for depot holders will now be credited directly into their bank accounts between the 1st and 5th of every month. This eliminates the need for cumbersome bureaucratic paperwork and frequent visits to government offices.
According to departmental representatives, Haryana offers some of the highest operational margins to PDS agents nationwide. This financial regularity is intended to empower shopkeepers and ensure their smooth, unhindered operations.
Free Food Grains and Digital Weighing Solutions
While millions benefit from central food security schemes, Haryana independently provides free rations to over 40 million vulnerable residents. The distribution ecosystem is entirely free of transport, loading, or unloading fees for the shop owners. Strict punitive actions have been prescribed against any contractor attempting unauthorized cash demands.
