Political and administrative activity is currently at its peak in Himachal Pradesh. During a massive public gathering in Nogli, Rampur assembly constituency of Shimla district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made significant announcements regarding the state's education and health infrastructure. CM Sukhu made it clear that his administration is fully committed to elevating the standard of living for common citizens through sustained development initiatives.
Historic Transformation in Education: 10,000 Jobs and Future Roadmap
Detailing the efforts to revamp the educational framework, the Chief Minister stated that the government has worked relentlessly. Since the formation of the current administration, over 10,000 teachers across various categories have been successfully recruited. To provide modern and quality education to students in rural areas, more than 150 CBSE schools have been established, accommodating around 2,000 teachers. Additionally, 300 schools affiliated with the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education are being upgraded into 'Schools of Excellence'.
Targeting the previous BJP administration, CM Sukhu presented comparative data. He noted that in 2021, Himachal Pradesh stood at the 21st position nationally in qualitative education. However, due to strategic governance and infrastructural reforms by the current administration, the state has climbed up to the 5th rank. The government has promised that within the next six months, another 4,000 teacher positions will be filled to completely bridge the gap.
Modernizing Healthcare and Upgrading Medical Institutions
Strengthening healthcare remains a top priority for the state government. The Chief Minister announced that all government medical colleges and the Atal Medical Research and Super Specialty Institute in Chamiana are being equipped with cutting-edge medical technology. Advanced machinery, on par with AIIMS, is being installed, and medical equipment that is nearly two decades old is being systematically replaced to ensure superior patient care locally.
Addressing the shortage of doctors, the administration recently appointed 500 new medical professionals. CM Sukhu firmly stated that financial constraints will never become a hurdle in critical sectors like health and education. The overarching goal is to ensure that quality medical services reach citizens in the most remote pockets of the state.
Welfare Measures for Employees: Old Pension and Outsource Policy
The Chief Minister also unveiled major policy decisions concerning government employees and workers. He reiterated that the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) has been restored for all state government employees, and it will remain protected as long as the Congress party is in power. Furthermore, a comprehensive policy is currently being formulated to secure the future of contractual and outsourced workers.
Addressing compassionate employment cases, the government has successfully resolved nearly 70 percent of eligible applications, providing rightful jobs to the youth. The administration believes that the welfare of employees is the core pillar of holistic state development.
