Empowering Students with Practical Skills: IGNOU Workshop Focuses on Career and Entrepreneurship

Building a Strong Foundation for Future Careers in School

Education today extends far beyond traditional textbook learning. With the job market evolving at a rapid pace, preparing students for future challenges from their school years has become essential. Educational institutions across the country are organizing special workshops to guide students on their career paths. Recently, a comprehensive workshop was held for students from 9th to 12th grade, where they enthusiastically participated and explored future career prospects.

During the workshop, educationists and domain experts discussed how young minds can choose the right path based on their interests and capabilities. The program emphasized that alongside formal academic degrees, vocational skills are now mandatory in a competitive world. The changes in the education system and the core principles of the National Education Policy were explained simply to help students understand where their futures lie.

Moving Beyond Traditional Degrees to Practical Skills

Dr. Ajay Vardhan Acharya, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Aligarh, addressed the students and stated that relying solely on traditional education is no longer sufficient. Students must acquire specialized skills demanded by the global market. He encouraged youngsters to recognize their natural abilities and develop skills accordingly.

Dr. Acharya highlighted the growing importance of language skills. He noted that learning foreign languages such as French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish opens up massive career opportunities in translation, international business, and global tourism. Multinational corporations heavily prefer professionals who are multilingual.

"Traditional education alone is no longer enough; specialized expertise and practical skills are essential for new employment opportunities. Students must develop skills aligned with their interests in this changing job market." — Dr. Ajay Vardhan Acharya, Regional Director, IGNOU

Government Schemes and Entrepreneurship Roadmaps

Shifting the mindset from job seekers to job creators is crucial for the youth. The workshop provided detailed information about various welfare schemes launched by central and state governments, including the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme, which assists young people in starting independent ventures.

Experts discussed the roadmap for 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and how today's school students will play a pivotal role in shaping the nation's economic future through innovation, technical understanding, and self-reliance.
